In a blog post, Instagram supports content creators and wants to introduce new opportunities on the platform. The social network, which has always favored collaboration between brands and influencers, offers new ways to reward creators.
A native affiliate tool and new options for stores
Over the next few months, the social network wants to test a native affiliate tool. It will allow creators to discover products, share them with their subscribers and earn a commission based on the sales generated. When a content creator joins this affiliate program, their posts will display a “Commission eligible” label. With this clarification, users will be able to know that their purchase supports the creator in question. It will also provide a new way for brands to partner with and reward influencers. Instagram announces that the feature will be tested first in the United States, with a sample of creators and companies such as Benefit, Kopari, Mac and Sephora.
New products extend to boutiques when designers offer their own merchandising. Instagram announces that it is, as of today, possible to add a store to their personal and professional profiles. The social network will also offer the creation and promotion of its store directly from the platform. The creators will then have to join one of the merchandising partners offered by Instagram, namely Fanjoy, Represent, Spring or UMG. Instagram wants to launch this feature to eligible creators by the end of the year in the United States.
Other sources of income on Instagram and Facebook
Badges on Instagram and Stars on Facebook are already giving creators the opportunity to raise money through donations or by monetizing Lives. It will also be possible to provide them with additional income when they achieve certain goals. For this, two new features are coming for both platforms:
- Creators on Instagram can, starting this week, earn additional income by using badges received in support by users in Instagram Live,
- Facebook offers creators to join the “Stars challenge”, a program that allows them to benefit from income from the social network, in the form of Stars when they achieve certain goals.
